If you notice that your clutch is slipping when you change gears, or that your vehicle has high revs but won’t go above a certain speed, then it’s likely that you need a clutch replacement.
The clutch is what enables you to change gears when driving, so it’s one of the key components in your vehicle. It’s made up of 3 parts; the clutch plate, the flywheel and the pressure plate. These three components interconnect, except when you press down on the clutch pedal, which causes them to separate, allowing for a smooth transition between gears.
Our Country Vehicles technicians in Shefford can carry out a thorough clutch check if you’re experiencing problems. We’ll let you know if you need a minor adjustment, a clutch repair or a full clutch replacement.
SIGNS THAT YOUR CLUTCH MAY NEED REPLACING
If you experience one or more of these symptoms, you should get your car to a garage for a thorough clutch check:
• High Engine revs but the acceleration is poor
• Difficulty changing gear
• Clutch pedal vibrates, sticks, or seems to lack ‘bite’ when you press down
• The clutch ‘slips’ causing a loss of acceleration
• A rumbling, or squeaking noise when you press on the clutch pedal
